Hi there.

I've never really kept a journal, and I've never been really comfortable talking about myself, so for my first post at least I thought I'd take the time to talk about someone far more interesting than myself. Namely, a chap named Karl Pilkington.

For those not in the know, Ricky Gervais, creator, writer, and star of BBC's The Office, has hosted a series of on-again off-again podcasts over the past couple of years with fellow Office creator Stephen Merchant, and a particularly peculiar Mancunian by the name of Karl Pilkington.

Now by all accounts Karl is an amazingly stupid individual. I mean this is a man who thinks that jellyfish should be wiped out because they don't have eyes, and that But what makes him such a great engaging radio personality is that he has an answer for everything. It's not just that he's an imbecile, but it's like his mind works on a different wave length–like he's got a great mind for absorbing information, but once he starts interpreting it everything goes a bit mental.

Here are some highlights:

Gervais claims Karl's the funniest man he's ever met. I'm inclined to agree. A popular featuer to the early podcasts was something called "Monkey News," which was, well, exactly what it sounds like. Karl would "research" a story about monkeys and then report on it to Ricky and Steve, much to their amusement, confusion, and sometimes anger.
